A Gentle Full Moon Release Ritual for Letting Go

The full moon is often used as a natural pause point: a chance to look at what has built up, notice what no longer feels helpful, and make space for what comes next. You do not need elaborate tools or a perfect spiritual practice. A quiet corner, a piece of paper and a few honest minutes are enough.

Begin with a simple intention

Sit somewhere comfortable and take a few slow breaths. Ask yourself: What am I ready to stop carrying? You might think of a habit, a fear, an old expectation, a draining pattern, or simply something that has taken up too much mental space.

Write what you are releasing

Write freely for a few minutes. Keep the language simple and personal. You might begin with: I am ready to release... or I no longer need to carry... There is no need to force a dramatic answer. Small things count too.

Choose what you want to make room for

Release works best when it is paired with direction. After writing what you are letting go of, choose one quality you want to invite in instead: calm, courage, patience, clarity, trust, rest or a fresh start.

Close the ritual

Fold the page, tear it up, or place it somewhere private. If you enjoy symbolic rituals, you can safely dispose of the paper later in a way that feels meaningful to you. Finish by placing one hand over your heart and quietly saying: I release what is finished, and I make room for what supports me now.

A ritual does not have to be complicated to matter. Its value is in giving your attention somewhere to land. The moon simply offers a beautiful rhythm for remembering to pause.
